Alphonso Haupt Sr.

Alphonso "Sonny" Haupt, Sr., 93, of Summerville, died Monday, November 27, 2017. He was born July 15, 1924 in Charleston to the late Emil and Paula Schultz Haupt. He retired as a General Foreman in the Welding Shop #26 at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Sonny is survived by a son, Alphonso (Eula) Haupt, Jr. of Summerville, two grandsons, Alphonso(Kelly) Haupt III and Ray (Katherine) Haupt, of Ladson, and three great-grandchildren, , Alyssa Haupt, Ella Haupt,and Hazel Haupt, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Alphonso was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Haupt, 4 sisters including his twin sister, and two brothers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, December 1, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. A graveside service will be held on Saturday December 2, 2017 at 1:30 pm in Carolina Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Roper Hospice or Palmetto PAWS rescue, Mt. Pleasant, SC.
