Anita Payton

Anita E. Payton, 64 of North Charleston, South Carolina, peacefully, went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2019. She was at home surrounded by love. She was born July 28, 1955 in Louisville, KY daughter of Arlie and Juanita Newman.

Anita grew up in North Charleston, SC and graduated from R.B. Stall High School. She retired from Rhodes Furniture after many years in customer service. She lived her life organically. Anita had a deep passion for nature and gardening. An avid music lover, Anita shared her love of all music with generations of family and friends. She was most at peace by the ocean with her family and on long weekends on the Florida & South Carolina Coast with her loving husband of 33 ½ years, Michael Payton. She adored the precious time with her grandchildren. The gifts of laughter, love and experiences shared with them brought her a new joy unlike any other. Her connections with anyone she encountered left a significant mark. Her greatest gift was her infectious optimism.

Anita was preceded in death by her father, Arlie Newman and brother, Barry Lee Newman.

Survived by loving husband Michael G. Payton; daughters, Dawn Terzulli (Damon) of Summerville, SC and Angela Carnicom (Andy) of Hanahan, SC; mother, Juanita Newman; mother-in-law, Kathy Payton of Indiana; brother, Robert (Bobby) Newman; sister, Susan Feagin (Eric); adored Grandchildren, Ava, Madelyn, Katie Terzulli and AJ Carnicom; nieces, Megan Patton (Justin), of Moncks Corner, SC whom she shared a special bond from birth to crossing over and Erica and Emily Feagin and many dear friends, countless aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation for all the prayers, love and support to all of Anita’s friends and family.
