Virginia “Shimmie” Hinson - On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, Virginia Hinson entered into eternal rest at the age of 89. Virginia was born in Savannah, GA. She was married to the late Harold Hinson. Virginia was known for her love of her church, shagging and spending time with family, friends and “Coffee Club” at her home in North Charleston. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Palmer and Grace Simmons and her brothers George and Tommy. She is survived by her nieces Debbie Zecopoulos and Sandy (Robert) Holland, nephew Craig (Krista) Simmons, great nephews Christopher (Samantha) Zecopoulos and Broughan (Kenna), Collin and Hayden Simmons, and Great niece Audrey Zecopoulos. Her “daughter in heart” Myrna (Bob) along with “grandchildren” Angie, Amy (Derek) and Molly (Jay) and “great grandchildren” Torie, Doc, Hank and Charlie by whom she was affectionately called “OG”. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 5th at 11 AM at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow graveside at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 4th from 6pm – 8 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home all located at 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston. In lieu of flowers donations should be sent to Roper Hospice Cottage at 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 in Virginia’s honor.
