Archie Collins, age 90, of Sumter, South Carolina, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on November 9, 2025. Archie was born in Loris, South Carolina to the late Kemp Mack Collins and Lillie Mae Johnson Collins.
Archie was a man of quiet strength and gentle faith. He was a proud member of Carnes Crossroads Church of God, where he loved worshiping and spending time with his church family. Those who knew him will remember his humble spirit, kind smile, and the way he always put others before himself.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures — a good day of fishing, working in his garden, and keeping his yard just right. If he spotted even one blade of grass out of place, he was ready to mow it. His hands were strong from years of hard work, and his heart was full of love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joella Collins; Patricia Jacques and Dorothy Collins; his son Stephen Collins; and siblings Vernon Collins, Althea Roberts, Ismay Collins, Nelson Collins, and Lloyd Collins.
Archie leaves behind his children Dana Johnson and her husband Jeffrey, Johnny Grooms, Chuck Grooms, Mary Grooms, and Gladys Heitzler. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Though he is gone from our sight, the love he gave will live on in all of us. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his presence will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held for Archie at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406, on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 2pm-3pm.
A graveside service will take place thereafter at Carolina Memorial Gardens, in the garden of Gethsemane.
