

Barbara Jean Gamble Fields, 85, of North Charleston, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on May 19, 2025. Born on August 10, 1939, in Greeleyville, SC, Barbara was the beloved daughter of Francis Dewey Gamble and Margaret Erlene Hagan Gamble.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Chicora High School, Class of 1957, and later dedicated 18 years of service as a clerk at the Naval Weapons Station. She was a devoted member of Our Father’s House church, where her faith and compassion touched many.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, James A. Fields; and her brother, William Francis Gamble. She is survived by her devoted sons: Mike Fields (Cindy), Steve Fields (Tracie), and Chuck Fields (Michelle); and her cherished sister, Margaret Ann Gamble Guy.
Barbara’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family: two nieces, three nephews, eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild—each of whom she loved deeply and joyfully spoiled, especially with her famous cookies.
Barbara was a woman of warmth, creativity, and a spirited nature. She loved to travel, especially with her husband, and found joy in painting, crafting, and creating beautiful things with her hands. Known for being both loving and feisty, she brought laughter and love into every room she entered.
A visitation will be held at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a chapel service at 12:00 p.m. Barbara will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Gardens following the service.
She will be remembered with deep affection and missed beyond measure.
