Barbara Ann Johnson Gonzales, of Bonneau, SC, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, at the age of 90. Born in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of Edgar Owens Johnson and Mary Louise Williams.
Barbara is survived by her two beloved sons, Stephen E. Gonzales (Donna) of Bonneau, SC, and Michael E. Gonzales (Lynda) of Summerville, SC. She was a proud grandmother to Grady E. Gonzales (Sundi) of Rock Hill, SC; Courtney Andrews (Matthew) of Goose Creek, SC; Joseph “JP” Gonzales of Charleston, SC; Chandler Gonzales (Angela) of San Francisco, CA; Jason Gonzales (Sadie) of New York, NY; Stephanie Johnson Branscum and Matthew Branscum of Summerville, SC. Barbara also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Taylor Milam (Jud) of Bluffton, SC; Frank Buck (Harley) of St. George, SC; Grasun Gonzales of Rock Hill, SC; and Gunner Gonzales of Rock Hill, SC, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Sawyer James Buck.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James E. Gonzales, and her granddaughter Melanie Gonzales.
Throughout her life, Barbara had a passion for interior design, sharing her talents by helping many create inviting and beautiful spaces in their homes. Her creativity and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. Above all she loved her family more than words can express and cherished every moment she had with them. Barbara’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 6 to 8 PM at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, located at 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406. A chapel service to celebrate Barbara's life will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
