Betty Ann Tipton, 57, was called home to be with the Lord on December 25th, 2023. Betty was devoted to her family and cherished every moment they spent together. She held on until the last family member had either departed or gone to bed on Christmas evening before slipping peacefully out of this world, with her husband by her side.
A Charleston native, Betty was born on November 18th, 1966, to Robert Julian Sims Jr. and Audrey Ann Sims (nee Lilley). The oldest of four sisters, Betty was a natural leader with a commanding presence. She enjoyed a distinguished career in the United States Navy before returning home to South Carolina to fulfill her dream of being a stay-at-home mom.
Betty was a crafter and enjoyed planning and organizing get-togethers for the whole family. She loved taking pictures and made scrapbooks to memorialize significant events. An extraordinary hostess, Betty’s home was the site of most family celebrations. Her warm smile and roaring laugh will be deeply missed on holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
Betty is survived by her husband of 23 years, Homer, and their wonderful daughter, Audrey Mae. She also leaves behind her parents, Robert and Audrey Sims; three sisters, Debra (Kevin) Thompson, Robin (Chris) Margetts, and Sheri (Kevin) Crymes; nephews Timothy Montgomery, Robert (Elizabeth) Westley, and Hayden and Parker Crymes; and nieces Courteney (Charles) Rouse, Malynn (Carol) Tipton, Lilley Smith, Julianna Thompson, and Olivia Crymes.
Betty is preceded in death by her grandparents Veniero and Betty Roman, Robert and Florence Sims, and Ann Taylor; uncle Shelly Clark; aunt Gloria Clark; and nephew Jeremy Crymes, who was taken from us far too soon.
Betty’s family will receive family and friends on Friday, December 29th, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Carolina Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with burial following at Carolina Memorial Park.
