Betty May Watkins

Betty Watkins, a devoted mother, grandmother, and proud military wife, passed away on January 2, 2026. Born in Pennsylvania on July 3, 1934, Betty’s life was defined by her enduring faith and her deep devotion to her family.

It was in Pennsylvania that Betty met the love of her life, William (Bill) Watkins. Their marriage began a grand adventure together; Betty took immense pride in Bill’s military service, and as a military family, they lived overseas and were stationed at various posts across the United States. After years of travel and service to their country, they eventually settled in Summerville, South Carolina, where they built a lasting home and community.

For many years, Betty was a dedicated member of Faith Assembly of God in Summerville. She found great joy and friendship within the Young at Heart group, where her faith and warmth were a blessing to all who knew her. She lived her life with a servant’s heart, and her family finds comfort in the promise: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her son, Kenneth Watkins; and her grandson, Michael Watkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Kathleen Flesher, and son-in-law, Daniel Flesher, of Summerville. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: James Flesher (wife Lorin) of Summerville; Sean Flesher of Summerville; Seldon Flesher(wife Erin) of Holly Hill; Christina Watkins of Dalzell SC, and Leslie McMinn of New Mexico.

Betty’s spirit lives on in her many great-grandchildren, whom she adored: Sky and Nevaeh Watkins, Kensley Mask, and Peyton, Alexis, Zane, Brennan, Svenson, and Stella Flesher.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 12 noon to 2 pm at the Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston.The Life Well Celebrated Service will begin at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow in the Carolina

Memorial Park.
