She was born on November 12, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to Richard P. Groves, Sr. and Mary (McMillan) Groves. Bev attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit, MI. She worked as a Payroll Clerk at Darin & Armstrong and the Yellow Pages. On March 22, 1968, she married the love of her life, Michael F. Easton, and they raised their family in Plymouth, MI
While in Plymouth, she happily spent many years on the sidelines of her daughters’ sporting events, and also took great pride in her gardening, with a particular focus on her signature red geraniums and impatiens. She made lifelong friends, enjoyed entertaining in her home and cherished the memories she built with neighbors.
As empty-nesters, Bev and Mike relocated to Stoneybrook, Golf and Country Club, in Sarasota, FL, and enjoyed living on the third fairway. Throughout 28 years there, she fondly recalled her time on the golf course, playing in leagues and with friends and family. More than the game of golf, she loved the ladies she played with over the years. It was also there she honed her patience and skill in her weekly scrapbooking group, producing many loving creations to be enjoyed by all, but especially her grandchildren. In her latter years, she was particularly fond of her time with her First Friday Floozies friends. Volunteering was also important to Bev. She received great joy volunteering, especially at All Faith Food Bank, Sarasota Orchestra Friends, and 100 Women Who Care-Greater Sarasota. Overall, her passions were not only her activities, but her friends and family that she spent time with.
She is survived by her spouse of 55 years, Michael Easton, of Mount Pleasant, SC, (formally of Sarasota, FL); daughters, Michelle “Miki” (Matt) Doan of Gregory, MI and Danielle “Dani” Helmly of Mount Pleasant, SC; grandchildren Parker Doan and Payton Doan of Gregory, MI, and Dalton Helmly of Mount Pleasant, SC; and Tres Helmly of Mount Pleasant, SC who remained a special part of her family.
She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Anne Easton and brothers Richard P. Groves, Jr. and Robert C. Groves, Sr.
