

Charles Daniel Etheridge Sr. (“Chicken”), 86, of North Charleston, was called home by the Lord our God on the 17th of December 2016. He was born August 21st, 1930 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to the late Hoyt and Leona Etheridge. After the Great Depression, the Etheridges moved to SC , where they spent the majority of their lives. Charles was a graduate of N. Charleston High School and a student of Georgia Tech. He was employed by the Westvaco paper mill as a machinist and paramedic, from which he retired after 44 yrs. He was married to Earline Niles on the 3rd of November, 1950, and blessed with 2 children. Charles is survived by his wife, Earline; son, Charles Daniel and wife Debra Etheridge; daughter, Donna Reneé Etheridge; brother, Thomas Hoyt and wife Gwen Etheridge; 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Charles was a man of God whose interest included music, camping, and watching sports. He was a loving spouse, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed. A service will be held at First Baptist Church of North Charleston (4217 Rivers Ave) on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at 2:00pm, with visitation from 1:00pm until service time.
