Clayton Mizzell

Clayton Arthur Mizzell, 61, of Hanahan, SC, passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. A funeral service in his honor will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00am in the chapel of Carolina Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Carolina Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Carolina Memorial Park. Clay was born on December 4, 1954 in Charleston. He is predeceased by his mother, Patricia R. Mizzell, his father, Coleman R. Mizzell, and his brother, Craig K. Mizzell. He is survived by his sister, Cynthia Black and her husband, Steve, daughter, Angie Mizzell Moffatt and her husband, Shawn, and three grandchildren, Dillon, Blake, and Cate Moffatt. He is also survived by nieces Abby Futch, Melissa Black, Amanda Black, and Amber Newsom; nephews, Cole Futch, Marc Futch, Brian Mizzell, and James Mizzell. Also surviving is his faithful companion and dog, Bear. Clay was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being on the water in his boat. Flowers will be accepted but in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in his name to the Charleston Animal Society or the American Esophageal Cancer Research Center.
