

Curtis Elias Saulisbury, Jr. 81, of Charleston, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at MUSC. He was born September 3, 1937 in Moncks Corner, SC. He was the son of the late Curtis Elias, Sr.and Mary Jane Sweatman Saulisbury.
As a child he was baptized in Wassamassaw Baptist Church and remained a Christian throughout his life. He was a multiple sport star at Berkeley High School and earned a scholarship to The University of South Carolina, playing one year on the freshmen basketball team. Known as "Cat" to his friends and "Big Daddy" to his family he was intensely proud of his home town and remained a fan of both the Stags and the Gamecocks.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Carolyn Boan Saulisbury of Charleston, seven children, Curt Saulisbury, III of Charleston, Tommy Saulisbury (Melissa) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Donald Robertson of Atlanta, Kerry Robertson of North Charleston, Shawn Saulisbury-Robertson of St. Louis, Crystal Tegley (Leonard) of Cincinnati and Les Robertson of John's Island. One sister, Juanita Calvert of Walterboro, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Trudy Rhodes, Clara Murray, Hazel Kirby, and Louise Varner.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, August 9, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home the following day, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 am, burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
