Daniel Ackerman

Daniel Ackerman, 83, of North Charleston, SC passed away peacefully on Monday Sept 29, 2025 at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro SC. He was born on April 29, 1942 in Charleston County, SC to the late Robert E Ackerman and Frances Cumbee Ackerman.

Daniel was a Veteran of the US Air Force where he served his country proudly. After the military, Daniel held several jobs one of which was a Concert Coordinator for the WEZL Country Radio Station. He was known as "Dan, the Van Man", bringing joy to so many fans. Daniel was also a member of the SC Modelers Association since 1994. Building Nascar models was his passion, with constructing over 400+ models.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E Ackerman and Frances C Ackerman, siblings Robert E Ackerman, Howard A Ackerman, Jane Johnson, and Lorine O'Brien.

Daniel is survived by his sister, Edna Barrineau; nephews, Ted Barrineau (Mary), JK, Jr Barrineau (Susie), Van Barrineau (Heather), Ned Barrineau, Janton Barrineau (Sheila); nieces, Geneil Martin (John) and Sharon Thomas (Tommy); cousins, Robert Johnson, and Mack (Karin) Johnson; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Daniel also had very special friends, Lydia Fipps (Karl) and Amanda (Mark) Chojnacki whom were true to him to the end.

The family would also like to extend a thank you to the staff and nurses at The Walterboro Veterans Victory House for their excellent care, patience and compassion.

Daniel will be remembered with love to all that knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.

A graveside memorial will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00PM, at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston SC.

A procession will lead out from the funeral home parking lot to the graveside.
