Debbie had a passion for cooking, cleaning, and gardening, and cherished her time on Folly Beach, a place that held many fond memories from her high school days, which she loved to reminisce about. She had a natural talent for decorating, and her creativity and eye for detail brought beauty into every space she touched. Throughout her life, she held many jobs, but her most fulfilling role was as a grandmother. Above all, Debbie adored her family, and her grandchildren were the true light of her life.
Debbie is survived by her beloved daughter, Tara Cessna and her son-in-law, Eric Peterson. She was a proud grandmother to Bradley Peterson, Brett Peterson, Brodie Peterson, and her princess, Sutton Cessna, all of Charleston, South Carolina. Debbie is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Runey (Robert Runey) and Denise Welch, as well as her nieces and nephews, Cameron Welch, Brandon Welch, Brian Murray, and Michael Bowers, all of whom she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Reid; her son, William Thompson; her brother, Joey Poole; her sister, Brenda Cheek; and her niece, Carrie Huth.
In lieu of flowers, Debbie asked for donations be made to The Church of LifePark’s youth ministry. She hoped to help more young people have the opportunity to participate in youth group trips, missions, and activities that bring them closer to Christ.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A celebration of life service will follow in the chapel from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with interment at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
