Debra Sue Thompson

She was a woman of extraordinary kindness who saw the best in everyone she met.

Debra was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on June 7, 1961. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Sharon Ruby. She had an amazing work ethic in everything she set her mind to, with always the perfect touch. She poured her heart into her family. She enjoyed fishing on a quiet lake, camping under the stars, or riding horses. She was an incredible cook who loved bringing people together over her delicious homemade meals.

Above all, Debbie loved her family deeply. Her children and grandchildren were the absolute center of her world. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and in between working, time with siblings/family, and friends. She loved to laugh and her bright energy and infectious laughter could light up any room. She had a quiet strength that endured through difficult times.

Relatives and friends of Debra Thompson are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday.

Debra was predeceased by her parents Kenneth Ruby and Sharon Trask, sons Brandon and Rodney Bresch, brother Rodney Ruby, and brother-in-law Charles Stoll. She is survived by her devoted husband Michael Thompson; children Amber [Matt Stone] Bresch, Laci [Michael Hojnowski] Garvalia, and Shannon Thompson; daughter-in-law Roshelle Bresch; grandchildren Zoe Bresch, Blake Thompkins, Cadence Stone, Bella Stone, Aiden Stone, Brandon Bresch Jr., Aeres Bresch, Oakley Hojnowski; siblings Rick [Bonnie] Ruby; Jolene [Dennis] Singletary; Tim Ruby; Rhonda [Tom] Brakke; Glenda Stoll; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
