Desiree Ann Langston

Visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, August 24th at Carolina Funeral Home & Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave, Charleston, SC.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Summerville Baptist Church, 417 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC, with Pastor Randy Harling officiating. Family will also receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Carolina Funeral Home & Gardens.

A graveside service will be held at the Mt Lebanon Baptist Church in Buffalo, SC, at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Langston, Will Smith, Harrison Zeigler, Stephen Zeigler, Cole Overholt, and Tom Bellomo.

Desiree was born in Durban, South Africa, to Eileen Kok and Derick Janneman on January 31, 1969. She came to the United States in 1995 to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy in Spartanburg, SC. It was there that she met her husband, James Langston, and they married on May 20, 2001.

She is survived by her husband, James; daughters, Tori Langston and Tiffany Smith (Will); son, Joshua Langston (Jessica); and four grandchildren, Lizzie Lanclos, Chase Langston, Ava Smith, and Jake Smith. She is also survived by siblings, Rene (Kerry) Janneman, Michelle Janneman, Crystal (Ollie) Maneveldt, Deidre (Grant) Harris, and Louise Kok; her husband’s parents, Ann and Guy Langston; sister-in-law, Shawn Zeigler; a very dear aunt, Gloria Kok; a lifelong friend Tracey Leach; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother; sisters, Delene Kok and Sandy Kok; brother, Andre Janneman; and brother-in-law, Chris Zeigler.

Desiree loved her family and she loved to travel. She and her family lived in many places including Germany, South Carolina, and Virginia. But the one she loved the most was Jesus. She shared Him wherever she went and wanted everyone to come to know Him. She fought hard over the last year as she struggled with cancer. And like Paul, who said in 1 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith.” Desiree fought the fight, kept the faith, and has now won the victory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research.

The family wishes to thank the MUSC cancer community and Desiree’s and James’ life group at Summerville Baptist Church for all the support and love she received.
