Donna Jean Rollins, 61, of Summerville, SC passed away September 21, 2025 surrounded by family and close friends. Donna was born on November 19, 1963 to the late Roland and Helen McDaniel in Kissimmee, Florida.
She is survived by her loving husband, Maxwell, daughter, Rebecca Fleming (Jason), son, Robert, and two precious grandchildren, Amelia and Solomon Fleming.
She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Scott, Patrick, and Jeff (Carmela) McDaniel. She cared for those that passed before her, giving generously of her time and love.
She graduated from North Charleston High in 1981 and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Charleston Southern University in 2000.
She was an active member of Summerville Baptist Church and led a Life Group alongside her husband as one part of her service to the Lord. She helped establish a non-profit to assist the less fortunate in the community. She spent ten years as the director of Vacation Bible School at Old Fort Baptist Church planting the seeds of Jesus’ love into every child who attended.
She enjoyed reading, watching action-packed movies, and traveling. She continued a family tradition started when she was a teenager of spending one week in the Myrtle Beach area with her family. In addition to taking vacations with her family, she also looked forward to annual trips with some of her closest friends, who she affectionately called her Tribe. In the past few years, the Tribe visited the Grand Canyon, Alaska, Vermont, and Maine.
She was overjoyed to experience the fulfillment of becoming a grandmother three years ago. She chose “Nonna” for her grandmother name. She felt blessed to have her entire family live in the Charleston area so she could see them often.
She lived a life of love. She was the perfect helper to her husband to raise two wonderful children and to run a family business. She uplifted all those around her and was an inspiration and encourager to many. She taught others to be strong when it felt impossible for them. She planted seeds of love, faith, and kindness wherever she went. She listened without judgment, loved without condition, and forgave without hesitation. She taught so many that friendship is one of God’s greatest gifts. She never lost hope, even in her fiercest battles, because she placed her hope and trust in Jesus. She showed others what it truly meant to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
A visitation at Summerville Baptist Church for Donna will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. A life well celebrated memorial service will follow at the church will occur from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Summerville Baptist Church would be appreciated.
