Doris was born July 28, 1938, in Lake City, South Carolina, to Reginald and Nada Mims. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was caring for and bringing happiness to the people she loved.
In high school Doris was identified as a “happy wit and independent spirit” which remained true for her entire life. She was also voted ‘Most Interesting’ in her Senior year.
Doris was first married to Edward Inabinett, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage until his passing in 1996. In 2002, she married Ralph Moon, and they remained together until his passing in 2013.
Doris devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and caretaker for her family. She was a loving and constant presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren and took great pride in her family. She especially cherished time spent with her parents and siblings and was dearly loved by them.
She was a longtime member of First Christian Church, where she served in many roles and was an active part of the church family with her leadership in women’s circles, crafting, decorating, and fundraising.
Doris had many talents including painting, styling hair, sewing, crocheting, square dancing, and bowling. She also loved entertaining and hosting family gatherings. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that could light up a room. She was often the life of the party, never met a stranger, and made friends wherever she went. Her warmth, laughter, generosity, and love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children, Diane Griggs and her husband, Mike; Edward Inabinett Jr. and his wife, Stacy; and David Inabinett and his wife, Laurie; her grandchildren, Michael Griggs, Matthew Griggs, Cole Scurry, Lily Inabinett, Jenna Inabinett, and Tricia Inabinett; and her beloved sisters and brothers.
She will be remembered most for the love she gave so freely, the joy she brought to family gatherings, and the many lives she touched through her kindness and friendship. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at Carolina Funeral and Memorial Gardens, located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406 on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
