

Dorothy Cooper died peacefully at her home February 2, 2017 surrounded by her family. The relatives and friends of Dorothy Cooper are invited to attend her funeral services on Monday February 6, 2017 at 11 am at Deer Park Baptist Church, 8875 University Blvd, North Charleston, SC 29406 (843)553-1172.Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 5 to 7 pm at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME. She was born February 21, 1925 in McKenzie, AL, a daughter of the late George and Betsy Stodghill. She attended school in Alabama and was valedictorian of her senior class. She was happily married to Roy Cooper for 63 years, prior to his death in 2009. Mrs. Cooper was a near lifelong member of the Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a devoted homemaker who spent her life nurturing the lives of children within her home and without. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her sons: Van (Delores) of Bonneau, SC and Ronnie (Diane) of Ladson, SC, a daughter: Deborah Collins of Ladson, SC, as well as a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a niece and 2 nephews and all their extended families. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Cooper, and 3 brothers.
