Lita was born on November 2, 1945, in Isabela, Philippines to Juan Barit Cachola and Felicisima
Gauiran and grew up as the eldest of 11 siblings. Lita is a graduate of Mary Johnston School of
Nursing, Class of 1966. She arrived in the USA and began working as a Nurse in Pennsylvania. Lita
became a military wife in 1968 and was stationed in Hawaii, New Hampshire and later Charleston, SC,
where she spent 44 years as an active member in the community. She co-founded the Hiyas-min
Cultural Society of Charleston and served in leadership positions with the Philippine Nurse Association.
In 2021, Lita relocated to Cumming, GA to live with her eldest daughter, Leilani, and easily adapted and
became a part of the community through bible study, church and country line dancing. At her time of
death, she was on a vacation with family in Las Vegas and passed with her youngest daughter, Lareina
and first grandchild, Tiara by her side.
Predeceased by her husband, Bonifacio Santos “Fred” Monroy Jr. whom she was happily married to for
39 years, Lita is survived by her 3 children: Leilani (Bill) Cain, Laverne (Lisa) Monroy, Lareina (Noel)
Casimiro; 5 siblings: Juan Cachola Jr., Sammy Cachola, Madelin Cachola-Diano, Eugene Cachola,
Juancho Cachola; 5 grandchildren: Tiara Walker, David Cain, Peter Monroy, Micah Casimiro, Christian
Casimiro; and 4 step grandchildren: Myla Ward, Michelle Wood, Brittany Young, Gaby Casimiro.
Lita will be remembered as a devout servant of the Lord, steadfast family matriarch, philanthropic friend
to all, and caring homemaker. Her infinite wisdom, humorous personality, unshakeable strength, grace
& humility with her love of song and dance, will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Lita’s life will be held on August 31, 2024 at 7113 Rivers Avenue, Carolina Memorial
Gardens. Visitation hours are 1 PM - 2 PM. Chapel service is 2 PM - 3 PM, followed by the burial and
reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Children’s ministry at God Almighty
Christian Church, in Lucena, Philippines (please contact daughter, Lareina Casimiro @ 702 908 2227).
