

Etta was born on July 2, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia to Carnes and Elsie Monk.
Etta was a longtime employee of Condon’s Department Store of Charleston, SC and later was employed as a switchboard operator with Roper Hospital. Etta enjoyed being a member of the Charleston Rifle Club, and in her spare time she enjoyed watching television programs such as, Blacklist and The Bold and The Beautiful. However, her most favorite past-time was when she was able to travel and spend time with her late husband, Roger. Their favorite place to spend vacationing was in Marathon Key, Florida.
Etta is survived by her brother, Carnes Monk of Georgia; her two children, Rhonda Keeney Miller of Summerville, SC and Roger Shane Keeney of Lakeland, FL; her two grandchildren, Kinser Kade Jones, and Mason Shae Keeney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Wyatt Keeney; her siblings, Louise Burdette, June Rogers, Shirley Baugh, and Norma Hedrick.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the hospice nurses, as well as to the staff of Home Instead. They are exceptionally grateful for the care, love, and dedication that was provided by Etta’s caregiver, Ms. Cassandra Green.
A visitation will be held for friends and family to gather at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2023 with a Celebration of Life funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home located at 7113 Rivers Avenue North Charleston, SC 29406.
