Evelyn Fuhr

Evelyn Lourena Fuhr, 72, of Irmo, SC, entered into eternal life with the Lord on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Evelyn was born, June 24, 1948, in Charleston, SC, the daughter to the late Roy David Smoak, Sr. and Claudia B. Smoak-Wyndham.

She graduated from James Island High School. Evelyn married the love of her life, the late Ken Fuhr, on June 26, 1967, then again in the Roman Catholic Church on February 29, 1968. Her greatest joy was found in the raising of her children, often stating that they were her greatest achievement and her special blessings, to later include her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Evelyn also had a passion for crocheting; often sending her creations to the Disabled Vets, St. Joseph's School, and displaced families. In addition to crocheting, Evelyn enjoyed decorating cakes, volunteering in her children’s schools and activities, and proudly filling the roll of COB's wife during Ken’s time in the Navy.

Evelyn is survived by 2 daughters, Lisa Marie Siddall (Dan) of Boise, ID and Denise Fuhr Gregory (Geoff) of Gloucester, SC; brother, David Smoak (Sandra); sister, Nancy Brock (Chip); 2 step sisters, Ursula Spires and Elizabeth Rouch (Jerry); grandchildren, Tiffany, Shelby, Seven, Chance and Dante; great grandchildren, Koda, Aurora, Taro and Benjamin; and multiple extended family and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Roy Phillip Fuhr; a daughter, Lacey Renee Cortese; step father, James H. Wyndham; step brother, James W. Wyndham; and niece, Claudia Marilyn McKnight.

A visitation will held on June 22, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. A Life Celebration will follow from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The Entombment will follow the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's name to the Shriner's or St Jude's Hospitals for Children.
