

He is survived by his wife June D. Lowe, brother Bob Lowe; four daughters: Elisa Cooley, Cynthia Stamps(Sam), Jette Robertson(Jim), and Patti Fields(David), all of Greenville, SC; ten grandchildren; Maxwell Cooley, Madeline Baer(Tyler), Ashley Fortenberry(Chris), B.J. Baldwin(Justin), Mallory Sinclair(Ben), Bonnie Gerlaugh, Haley and Phoebe Robertson, Steven Head, Olivia Fields; three stepchildren Patti Ferguson(Howie), Lee Ann Garrett(Tommy) and Rick Patierno(Glenda) and their seven children: Dylan and Annalee Ferguson, Thomas, Cameron and Madison Garrett, and Forest and Bayli Patierno.
Forney grew up in a small textile town (Bessemer City, NC), where he began his career as a watchmaker, and decided that was not for him. He changed vocation to HVAC Engineering by taking night classes for HVAC Engineering degree at a technical school. He was very talented in developing estimating systems with manual calculations, progressing to computers as they became available. Through the years he became licensed as a Mechanical Contractor ; Master Plumber and General Contractor in as many as thirty states. A Life Member of ASHRAE, Past President of Greenville ASHRAE Chapter, Life Member of South Carolina Mechanical Contractors Association. Also a member of Charleston Presbyterian Church. After working with Century Contractors as an Estimator in Charlotte, NC for over 30 years, he continued as a consultant with them in his semi-retirement. He was always the life of the party and loved cooking, woodworking and getting together with family.
Services will be held at Charleston Presbyterian Church on 1405 Miles Road, Charleston at 11:00 Thursday, April 7th followed by a reception at the church.
