Francis “Larry” Lawrence McDonald, 66, passed away on May 18, 2025, in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Larry was known for his warm spirit and magnetic personality—he never met a stranger. His quick smile, easy charm, and genuine interest in people left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A devoted father and an even more devoted dog dad, Larry adored his beloved rescue pup, Dolly, who was fondly known in the family as his “favorite daughter.”

Larry found joy in the simple things—strumming his guitar, experimenting in the kitchen, and sharing good food and stories with those he loved. His creativity and warmth filled every room, and his humor and kindness made even ordinary days special.

He is survived by his children, Sarah McDonald-Duncan (Thomas Duncan), Portia McDonald (Marilena Currey), and Brian McDonald (Dr. Ashley Pimenta-McDonald) His memory will live on in their hearts, in the music he played, the meals he shared, and the unconditional love he gave so freely.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Larry’s memory with a donation to the Hilton Head Humane Association—a cause close to his heart and the place where he met Dolly.
