

After graduating from Garrett High School, Fred answered the call to serve by joining the United States Army. Following his military service, Fred built a remarkable 50-year career with Bayer/Sun Chemical Corporation, where he worked as a Health and Safety Executive Manager. In this role, he was known for his attention to detail and his steadfast dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of others.
Fred had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, enjoying the peace and quiet of the water. He was an avid golfer who cherished time on the course, and he took great pride in his 1951 Chevy pickup truck. Fred was also a proud member of the Elks Lodge Club in Charleston No. 242, where he formed lasting friendships and remained active in his community.
Fred loved his children dearly and remained proud of them throughout his life.
Fred was the beloved son of Sylvia and Fred Westmoreland, Sr. He is survived by his two children, Heather Romero (Omar) of Oregon and Travis Westmoreland (Kristin) of Washington, DC, as well as three grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Linda Osborne, Carol Frederickson (Gordy), Mike Westmoreland (Kim), and Sarah Rhodus (Chip).
Fred will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
