The unsinkable Molly Brown has nothing on Gail Ardene Johnson Kemp. Refusing to “say ‘uncle’ ”, Gail endured all things difficult and tried to find the positive in the lessons she learned along the journey of this life.
Gail peacefully entered her eternal rest on February 23, 2021 in the home of her daughter in the state of Wisconsin.
Gail is reunited with her true love Jack R Kemp Sr. who predeceased her 9 year ago.
Gail was born in Augusta, Georgia on May 18, 1939. Some of her cherished memories were made growing up with the Thomas family. After graduating high school from Cristobal High School - Panama Canal Zone she enlisted in the Navy to begin her training as a nurse. Gail would go on to live in Columbia, West Columbia, and Charleston, SC. After losing her beloved, she would move back to Augusta, GA. to share the twilight years of her life with her Thomas sisters.
Gail, a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, was also a passionate genealogist. Some may ask, “What did Gail accomplish in life? What degrees did she earn?” Gail’s greatest achievements were accomplished under the following titles:
Mother, wife, spiritual leader, teacher, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, artist, story writer, just to name a few.
The lives of family and friends and all who knew her will forever be changed for the better.
Gail’s greatest treasure, family, will continue her legacy of love as she leaves behind her children; Tony Kemp (Amanda), Darleen Lovelace (Mark), Jack Kemp Jr. (Carol) and Patrick Kemp (Kim), her brother; Donald Johnson, her 22 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 5th 2021 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations and Saturday, March 6th, 2021 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1519 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407 until the time of the funeral service at 11am; burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
