

Relatives and friends of George W. Singleton are invited to attend his Funeral Service at noon, Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial with military honors will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
George was born in Mullins, South Carolina on July 19, 1945. He was the son of George Allard (G.A.) and Myrtle Corine Wiggins Singleton.
A Britton’s Neck High School graduate, Wayne joined the United States Air Force at age 17 to “see the world”. George retired after 27 years of service, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8). During his enlistment, George received the Meritorious Service Medal, Air and Space Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Readiness Medal, and numerous other awards and commendations. George was a Vietnam Combat Veteran and was directly involved in numerous humanitarian missions throughout the world. He went above and beyond to protect our freedom. George certainly saw the world, taking photos and films when he had the opportunity. His career made a significant and lasting impact. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, George had a second career with Kenan Advantage Group.
George also left a mark on Lowcountry community, serving as a volunteer firefighter and Chief of the C&B Fire Department from the late 1970s into the early 1980s. As he was able, George also celebrated his faith at Grace Alliance Church in North Charleston, where he and Jim could always find something to “fix.”
George is survived by his fiancé, Virginia S. Gray; children from his first marriage of 30 years, Douglas W. Singleton (Viki) and Teresa M. Singleton (Jerry); five grandchildren: David, Max, and Jack Singleton, Trae, and Berkley Williams; two great-grandchildren, Ben Stark and Walker Williams; and children from his second marriage of 20 years, William "Billy" L. Miller III (Debbie) and Michelle L. Miller (Al); and two grandchildren, Jeremy C. and Joshua D. Miller.
He is preceded in death by his second wife, Doris L. Henry Miller (d. 2018); his first wife, Diane Gorman (d. 2010); his brother Ronald Dudley and mother and father, Myrtle and Allard.
