

Jerry Duncan, known affectionately as Pop by his family, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in North Charleston, South Carolina. Born on September 20, 1929 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Jerry lived a long and impactful life marked by service to his country, dedication to his community, and unwavering support of youth sports.
A proud veteran of World War II, Jerry served as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy and was stationed in New London, Connecticut. His commitment to service extended far beyond his military years and became a defining feature of his life.
For over two decades Jerry volunteered with Cooper River Parks and Playgrounds. He served as both coach and commissioner at the old Midland Park Baseball Field and played a pivotal role in the development of the baseball park in Northwood Estates. Through these efforts, he mentored countless young men and left an enduring legacy in the local sports community.
Jerry’s passion for golf was well known. He was associated with Yeamans Hall Club for more than thirty years as both a member and employee. Fondly remembered as the “golf cart guy,” he took great pride in ensuring that every cart was ready for use and often lent a helping hand to members living on the course.
In addition to his work on the field and fairway, Jerry lent his voice to R. B. Stall High School athletics as the longtime announcer for the Warriors. His enthusiastic commentary brought energy to countless games and created lasting memories for players and fans alike.
Jerry was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his daughter Paula D. Duncan; sons Steve Duncan (wife Tammy) and Ronnie Duncan; grandchildren Jamie Rabon (wife Beth), Steven Duncan, Tyler Duncan, and Ashley Duncan; great-grandson James Duncan Rabon; sister Barbara Hall; and sister-in-law Iris Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Duncan; parents Elzie and Viola Duncan; brothers Cecil Duncan and Pete Duncan; sisters Sybil Flynn and Irene Cypert; and daughter-in-law Allison Duncan.
Throughout his life Jerry touched many lives through mentorship, friendship, and service. His contributions to youth sports programs, his dedication at Yeamans Hall Club, and his spirited presence behind the microphone at high school games will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as an enduring reminder of a life well lived.
