He was preceded in death by his wife Betty D. Bourne, brothers Francis, Bill, Johnnie, James Alec, Mike, Sammy and sisters Dot Thompson and Janis Sanders He is survived by his four children, Tammy Ulm of Ladson, SC., Carol Bourne-Hunt of Myrtle Beach, Timothy Bourne of Charleston and Gail Lanter (Don) of Charleston. He was a loving Grandfather to Donald Haugh, Danielle Haugh, Wesley Bryant, Emily Lanter, Madeline Hunt and great grandchildren, AJ Taylor and Lilith Haugh. He also leaves to mourn his siblings Pearline Holmes, Ruth Kersey and Jackie Bourne.
Gil was a veteran of the Korean War and a past commander of VFW Post 445 as well as a member of The American Legion Post 147. He was the owner of Bourne's Automotive Paint & Body on James Island.
There will be a graveside service on Sunday July 12, 2020 , 2:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Ave, Charleston SC 29407 or to the Alzheimer's Association.
