Gloria Breland Drawdy of Hanahan, SC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the age of 91. She was born on November 6, 1927 in Holly Hill, SC. Mrs. Drawdy was the only daughter born to John Grady Breland and Pauline Salvo Breland. When she was 2 years old, her mother and brother died during childbirth. Her aunt, Vallie Salvo Davis and her grandfather, W. R. Salvo adopted, loved and raised her. Her aunt married Joseph Davis and had two more daughters. The three girls grew up as sisters.
Mrs. Drawdy worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for 41 years. She was an active member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church for many years. She was currently a member and attending Charleston Baptist Church with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Theodore Drawdy, and her infant daughter, Pamela.
Surviving are her daughters and their husbands Linda Hull (Peter), and Paula McLean (Fred); grandchildren Brian Hull, Michael Hull (Mandy), a great grandson Owen Hull; her sisters Patricia Rodgers (Cliff) and Peggy Loadholt (Nix) and nephews McCuller Rodgers, Tradd Rodgers (Andrea), David Drawdy (Janice) and nieces Lisa Reuis, Lori Martin, Sandy Monts (Doug), Margaret Muns (Jimmy); and her cousin Bill Spaulding (Diane).
Mrs. Drawdy’s family would like to acknowledge with gratitude the army of “angels” God sent to help care for her so that she could remain in her home: Cheryl Clem, Delores Wright, Zina Renda, Georgetta Riley, Betty Dawsey, Kim Hanken, Joyce Nettles, Aileen Murphy, Peggy York and Romaine Mitchell.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral at Charleston Baptist Church, 13 San Miguel Road on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00, the interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens at 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. The family will receive friends at Charleston Baptist Church, 12:30 to 2:00 prior to the service on Saturday. Flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Charleston Baptist Church.
