In the early morning hours of Thursday, December 14, Harold E. Sparks (Sparky) went home to be with his Savior. Born January 27, 1929, to James Edgar and Lillian Ison Sparks of Portsmouth, OH, he lived a long and active life. While in high school he discovered his lifelong love for music, playing the trombone in the high school band, as well as playing and singing in his band, the Fab 5. He taught himself to play the piano, organ and guitar. He sang in the North Charleston UMC choir, the North Charleston Choral Society and called Square Dances (Wesley Whirlers) and Round Dances for many years. He was a Cubmaster and Boy Scout Scoutmaster, a baseball coach, and an over doer of any hobby he took on. His favorite hobby was as an amateur radio operator (K4GQG). He also loved building computers for friends and his church. He retired as a Senior Chemist from Westvaco in the early 90’s.
The US Navy stationed Harold on a Destroyer in Charleston, SC as a radioman, during the Korean War, where he was labelled, Sparky. While in Charleston, he met the love of his life MaryEllen Cate (deceased). Together they had three children, H. Alan (Sheila), Charles E (Sandra) and Brenda Brastauskas (Jim), 6 grandchildren Joshua Sparks (Deanna) & Kyle Sparks (Joanna), Elizabeth Sparks & Lauren Sparks (Zach) and Dr. Ian Michael Brastauskas (Samantha) & Haley Corns (Matt) and 3 great grandchildren Hunter & Grady Sparks and Aislinn Stephen.

You will be sorely missed by all who loved you.
