Harold "Ronnie" Steen

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 from 1-2 pm. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm Saturday, September 19th, 2026 with Pastor Bert Fersner officiating at Carolina Funeral Home (7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC, 20496.

Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Harold “Ronnie” Steen was born Charleston, SC at Baker Hospital to Roland F. and Catherine Lucille (Locklair) Steen on October 29, 1943. He married Mary C. Steen on February 4, 1966. He was tugboat captain with Salmons Dredging for 28 years. He honorable served with the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis including the Bay of Pigs operations.

Ronnie was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working the land. He is remembered for his large vegetable gardens and his annual oyster roast which regularly was attended by over 70 family, friends, and neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Mary C. Steen.

Ronnie is survived by his loving life partner, Susan (Kathy) T. Cox and her children and grandchildren; his children Ronald L. Steen (Sheri), George P. Steen (Fawn), Charlene Patricia Holingsworth (Bill); siblings Fred Steen (JoAnn), John Steen (Jennie), Linda Wood (Sam), Nancy Wall (Buddy), Kathryn Weiner (Sy); and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ronald L. Steen, George P. Steen, Jerry E. Wigger, Fred Steen, John Steen, and Gene Locklair.
