Harvey A Sturgis Jr.

A memorial service for Harvey will start at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 24th, 2026 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home (7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406. Deacon Thomas Provost will officiate the service.

Harvey was born on January 15, 1947, in Concord, North Carolina to Harvey A. Sturgis, Sr. and Emma Phillips Sturgis. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School, in Kannapolis, North Carolina in 1965. He attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1971. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973.

On May 29, 1993, Harvey married Linda Sineri Sturgis in Charleston, South Carolina. Throughout his career, Harvey was self-employed and worked with various companies in sales and marketing. From 2001 – 2008, he was the proud owner and operator of King Street Station in downtown Charleston. Harvey was also an avid writer who had a passion for expressing himself through the written word. Two of his works were published in The Best Poems and Poets of 2003 and Theater of the Mind. During his retirement Harvey cherished spending time with his family, traveling, writing and enjoying one of his greatest passions, playing golf. Above all, he treasured the memories made with those he loved and the time spent surrounded by family and friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents Harvey Alexander Sturgis, Sr. and Emma Phillips Sturgis.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sineri Sturgis; his stepchildren, Glen Patrick Gossett, Nicole Gossett Nettles and her husband, Chad Nettles; his brother, David Sturgis, Sr. and his wife Debra Sturgis; and his nephew; LCDR David Sturgis, Jr., USN, and his two granddaughters; Madelyn Nettles and Olivia Nettles.

The family of Harvey Sturgis, Jr., wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to MUSC At Home by BAYADA and MUSC Hospice At Home by BAYADA for their compassionate care and support. The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Shaena Thompsono and Lisa Spencer for their unwavering care, kindness and assistance in caring for Harvey over the last year.
