Mary Helen Cannon of Hanahan, SC, passed away at home on June 18, 2016. She was born May 27, 1932 in Westville, SC to the late Thomas F. Roseborough, Sr. and Valnetta T. Truesdell. She graduated from North Charleston High School. She loved working with young people and coached girls’ softball for the Hanahan Rec Center for many years. She also organized a junior bowling league which continued for several years. She volunteered at the SC Aquarium and at Trident Medical Center until joining the hospital as Supervisor of the Junior Volunteers, from which she retired after 15 years. She also loved traveling, sports (especially stock car racing – an avid Richard Petty fan), and watching ice skating. Survivors include sons Christopher Gunther (Cindy) of NY and Barry Gunther (Robin) of Hanahan; grandson, Kyle Gunther of MN; granddaughter, Kaitlin Gunther of Hanahan; sisters, Eleanor Gunther, Hanahan; Sharon Lynch, Summerville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, a sister, Dorothy Bolton, and a brother, Thomas F. Roseborough, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Carolina Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 22, at 12:00pm. Inurnment shall take place at a later date. While flowers will be graciously accepted, donations may be made to the Hospice Center of Charleston.
