Donald's presence will be missed by his large circle of friends and family. Donald loved to live life large, he was always up for an adventure. In his youth, he loved to roller skate, play electric guitar and hang out at the beach. He loved going to casinos, reading books, music, history and the opposite sex. He loved betting on football games with his son Chris.
Donald was born July 24, 1959 in Charleston, SC. He is predeceased by his parents, Hugh Wilson Ford, Jr. and Lois Annette Brinson Ford. He attended North Charleston High School and worked various jobs in Charleston and Florida. He eventually settled in Charleston, where he started his own contracting business, which he ran successfully until he was no longer able to work.
He is survived by his sons, Chris Ford of Phoenix, AZ, and Alan Staggers of Portland, OR. He also leaves behind his four brothers and two sisters: Jimmy Ford (Karen), John Ford (Barbara), Michael Ford (Katlin), Steven Ford (Sarah), Susan Toler (Danny), and Evelyn Medley (Bo). He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews that grew up adoring their Uncle Donald.
Donald had a huge, generous, caring heart and his presence on earth will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 15, 2022 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston,SC. from 2 pm until 3 pm. A Life Celebrated Service will be in the funeral home chapel at 3 pm. Burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
