

Ira Madison Smoak III, (“Bubba”), 67, of Summerville, SC, passed away on May 6, 2017. A funeral service in his honor will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, May 9, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Bubba was preceded in death by his father, Ira Madison Smoak II, and his wife, Peggy Smoak. Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving family; mother, Elizabeth Rice Smoak; son, Kevin “Butch” Stevens (April); daughters, Randa Ayers (Chris) and Melanie Seagraves (Randy); 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 3 brothers, Gary Smoak, Ronnie Smoak, and Michael Smoak. Bubba served in the United States Army for four years, and was awarded the Soldier’s Medal and the Army Commendation Medal in 1970 for saving four lives from a helicopter crash in The Vietnam War. He retired from The Civil Service in the mid 90s. He owned an automotive repair, paint, and body shop called Smoak’s Autobody Shop. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all around outdoorsman. He loved his friends and family and never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be remembered by many more.
