

James Ewing Bristow, Jr., age 83, of Hanahan, SC, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at a skilled nursing facility in Beaufort, SC. He was born on January 31, 1932 in Fairmont, NC to the late James Ewing Bristow, Sr. and Lillie McIntyre Bristow. He was a retired 20 year veteran of the US Air Force and during that time he served in Korea and Viet Nam. After retirement he turned his hobby and love of coin collecting into a business, opening a shop first in Florence, SC then in Charleston, SC. He was a lifetime member of the Lowcountry Coin Club. He is survived by his children: Laura Ann Marsh of Hanahan, SC, James Steven Bristow (retired Army) of Washington DC, Lynn Marie Browder (Ed) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: James Anthony Hardee, Lawrence Kenneth Marsh (US Army), Brandon Lyle Lehman, Raleigh Caitlyn Bristow, August James Bristow, Elizabeth Marie Bristow, Michael McKinnon Bristow, Jr.; great grandchildren: Tristan, Nathan, Adyn, Ryleigh, Karson, Ayden; brothers: Kenneth Bristow (Shirley) of Melbourne, FL, Wayne Bristow (Sarah) of Beaufort, SC. James was preceded in death by his wife Sara McKinnon Bristow and son Michael McKinnon Bristow. Funeral will be Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Park in the Garden of Valor, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.
