To Jimmy's family:  I just watched the pictorial video of Jimmy's life with all of you. I was a good friend of Jimmy's in high school. He, Charlie Taylor, John Burton, and I palled around together on the weekends. We went to the drive in regularly in his car (the only one of us with a car). Jimmy would drive and the rest of us (at least two) would lie down in the floorboard or in the trunk to avoid paying. We also had a lot of fun camping in woods close by to North Charleston.  We also went downtown a lot to the M&M bowling alley. In short, we had a lot of fun. He was just a good person and very funny. I am glad to have had him for a good friend. By the videos, it looks like your fine family had many good times as well, and yall were fortunate to have had him as a good, stable influence in your lives. I was fortunate to have had Jimmy as a good friend and classmate in North Charleston High School. Jimmy and his family accepted me as a parttime member of their family. It was a blessing as my family was torn apart

I know that our Lord will warmly greet Jimmy and he will be welcome to live in God's home forever.

Because of Cousin Jimmy, many of us enjoyed a relaxing Saturday evening in October on Owl Creek in Hanging Dog Community outside of Murphy, NC. We were able to walk where our Ancestors walked generations before. Those were great times for me. Thank you for those memories.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers to the Lovingood & extended families. Jimmy was a caring & loving man. He and Betty took our entire family under their Wings and provided us with many shared joyful & unique life experiences that we will always cherish! They provided their home & comfort to us when we visited Charleston. We had many vacations together in Florida, Kentucky, Atlanta and our last was Cross Country by train to the West Coast and returned by Camper- I even had to call a Silver alert for Jimmy. He was so enthralled with driving the camper he missed the SF hotel and drove to Oakland.  We could write a book about all our memorable times together.  Jimmy helped us with many projects but one that stands out he installed my Mothers first Dryer what a Blessing?  Jimmy was always good with kids, and elders who he was always respected.  We will miss him dearly but will always have those toolbox of life adventures & experiences that we will always Cherish, Laugh, Cry and Motivate us. Love Always, Ed and Sherry Vieth

My deepest condolences to the entire Lovingood family. I thought so highly of your Pop! I only really knew him for about this last 10 years and he was always such a sweet, gentle and kind man. I have so much respect for him and the way he spent such quality time with his grands. I know he will be deeply missed this side of heaven!

One of my favorite all time vacation memories was August 12th 1984.  We drove up that morning, and met Aunt Betty and Uncle Jimmy at Atlanta Fulton County stadium.  We watch the braves v Padres.  It was rain delayed a few times but is forever known for the brawl(s).  Ever since then he always asked me what about them Padres?  

A lot of great memories for sure.  We miss you uncle Jimmy.  

Mark, Debbie and Scotty, From the Culver family we send our deepest condolences.  From GE Ladson and later Madisonville, KY,  our families shared some fond memories. Mr Jim and Mrs Betty were always wonderful friends going waaaay back to our family!  Mark, the memories I still have from working at GE while you were at the Citadel and I was at CofC are a fond part of my life. This is a beautiful tribute. It was nice seeing pictures of when Uncle Jimmy was young. My favorite picture is with all of you kids and Uncle Jimmy on the bench.  I have so many memories of Uncle Jimmy. He was more like a grandfather to me. He took Jamie and me everywhere. He took us camping and boating. He would let me drive his truck and then when I had kids he would let the kids drive his boat or his jeep.  When we would visit, we always look forward to his delicious breakfasts.  We will always treasure our memories with him!

My family loved Jimmy and we are so sorry that he has left his earthly home but we are rejoicing that he is walking the streets of gold in his heavenly home. He is with Betty and Jamie And the rest of his family and friends. His kindness to me and my family will never be forgotten  RIP your friends from Elizabethton. Tennessee.

We had many good times over the years.  He was always eager to have family outings and went “all out” to host family reunions in Murphy, NC.   He had many skills and when anyone called on him for help, he dropped what he was doing.   He LOVED kids and if he met a new baby, he swept ‘em up & even if they cried he didn’t care; they went outside and became  friends!!  (Photo:  siblings with our Mom)
