James H Porter

James was born to Troy and Minnie Porter November 11,1939 in Winding Gulf, WV. He graduated from Stoco High School in 1957. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and retired in August 1987 after nearly 30 years of service. He married Nita Porter in 1973 and they lived together in Goose Creek, SC. Together they raised four beautiful children.

He leaves as his legacy four children: Rod (Myra), Nick, Harold (Danny) and Melinda (Dan). He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher, Sydnie, Lauren, Luke, Riley, and Phoebe. He also leaves to cherish his memory six siblings. Nancy Dent, Mary Underwood, Donna Cochran, Patricia Harstad, John Porter, and Bob Porter. His family will remember him as a Caring Husband, Loving Father,and wonderful grandfather.

He was preceded in death by Troy Barney Porter, (Father), Minnie Martha Porter, (Mother), Katherine Craddock (Sister), Joy Harmon (Sister), Gene Porter (Brother), and Barney Porter (Brother).

He will always be remembered as a strong, hard working, loving, caring and giving family man. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 pm -7 pm February 17, 2019 at the Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday Feb. 18, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park, 71113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston.
