

James Schwenk of Ladson, SC, son of the late James F. Schwenk and Elsie Westing entered into Eternal Rest on April 30, 2020. James was born on April 2, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Ridgewood, Queens, NY. He moved to Long Island, NY as an adult.
He was a welder and a member of Local 15 Operating Engineers of Long Island City, NY and worked on many projects in New York including the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the 1969 World's Fair, and the World Trade Center. In 1977 he opened his own business called County Welding in Nesconset, Long Island.
He is survived by his loving wife Geraldine of fifty years. Sons James of Ladson, SC and Kevin of Tampa, FL. Grandson Jay, a member of the US Air Force stationed in Italy and Granddaughters Bailey and Lorelei of Summerville, SC. Grandsons Kyle and Houston of Summerville, SC. Sister Alice Miller of Asheville, NC. Niece Lisa of Black Mountain, NC. Nephews James and John of Long Island, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John the Beloved Roman Catholic Church followed by burial at the Carolina Memorial Park with Army Military Honors.
