Friends and family of Janet McEachern are invited to attend services at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, S.C. 29406 on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by the Life Well Celebrated Service. Interment will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Janet McEachern was born on September 12th, 1922, in St. Matthews, S.C. to Ramus Simpson and Leila Sikes. Janet was a devoted Christian and dedicated her life to spreading the love of Jesus to all as she had a heart for God and a love for all people. Janet worked at Friedman’s Jewelers for a number of years and was also a talented homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, and other needlework. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook who loved sharing her art with others. “Granny” opened her home to numerous children for many years leading and guiding them in her selfless Christian ways. She was also a devoted member of Doorway Baptist Church and taught children about God’s love during Sunday School and Bible School.
Janet is predeceased by her husband John McEachern, her father and mother Ramus Simpson and Leila Sikes, and her brother Willy Sikes.
Janet’s legacy will live on through her sister Gloria Smith (Bobby), her children Carol Joy (Ricky), Lynn VanVleet (Morris), and Mary Jo Padgett (Ted), her nine grandchildren Anna Marie Scott (T.C.), Teresa Dean (Bobby), Jolynn Elrod (Michael), Richard Joy (Miriam), Suzanne Bennage (Troy), Donald Alderman (Jenny), John Alderman, Josh Embler (Megan), and Hannah Studemeyer (Craig), her 13 great-grandchildren Tommy Scott (Stefanie), Beth Sharp (Bryan), Trey Dean, Jackie Carter, Scott Seaman, William Elrod, Irene Joy, Nicholas Joy, Xander Bennage, Eli Embler, Lyla Embler, Jack Alderman, Dylan Alderman, and Jasper Studemeyer, and her four great-great grandchildren Emily Scott, Thomas Scott, B.J. Sharp, and Isabella Sharp, and many nieces and nephews.
