

Jerome D. Tenney, 83, of Summerville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, February 27, 2019, at his residence. He was born July 31, 1935 in Mason City, Iowa to the late James C. and Inez Tenney.
He was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy, serving until his retirement from the Navy. Then worked as a Civil Servant before retiring. He was well known for helping the area youth by being a Referee and Umpire for many years in the MedRiv Parks and Recreation.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Creek, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Geneva Tenney, of the home, a son, Jerome D. Tenney, Jr. of Moncks Corner, a daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Bergen, of Summerville, three grandchildren, Caitlin Bergan, Christopher Tenney, and Jeremy Tenney, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Joy Martzahl, of Burchinal, IA.
In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Tenney, a son, Duane Tenney, a brother, James Tenney, and a sister, Mary Janet Seeley.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, March 3, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, in North Charleston.
A funeral mass will be recited at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Creek on Monday morning, March 4, 2019 at 10:00 am. The rites of committal will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
