Jimmy Cooper, usually known as just “Coop” was born September 11, 1934, in Paducah, KY to the late, Bryant & Willie Ethel Cooper.
He is a Retired Chief Petty Officer of the USN. A Veteran of the Vietnam War. Jimmy served his country for 21 years. After his military career, he settled in South Carolina having his own welding and fabrication company.
He was a loving, caring, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, son. He never met a stranger and always left a lasting impression. To know him was to love him. He was truly one of a kind. His family and friends will miss his stubborn ways, his sense of humor, his story telling, his coffee dates, his love for basketball and riding his scooter while he “ran the roads”. “I’ve been called a lot of things, nice isn’t one of them” was one of his favorite sayings. We all knew this wasn’t true, as his heart was bigger than anyone’s you would ever meet. There was nothing more important to him, than his family. He will be greatly missed but always in our hearts.
He is survived by his brother, Roy Cooper of Kentucky; son Jimmy B Cooper (Jenni) of Charleston, SC; daughters Kelly Cox (Kevin) of Ridgeway, SC, Nicole Fischler of Summerville, SC. Grandchildren, Tierra Fischler, Christopher Davis (Meghan) Destiny Fischler, Kelsey Adcock (Austen), Jalin Fischler, Hannah Schroth (Eric), Brandon Fischler, Braxton Fischler, Jaycie Cooper, Jayden Cooper. 9 Great grandkids and his nephew, Jason Cooper.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bryant and Ethel Cooper; his brother Dalford Cooper; his niece Melissa Cooper.
