
With deep sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of JoeAnn DeLong. JoeAnn entered her Heavenly home at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, service, and treasured memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive visitors at 11:00 am, on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm, on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home with burial immediately following at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
JoeAnn lived her life with a joyful spirit and a servant’s heart. As a young woman, she enjoyed playing basketball during her high school years, a reflection of the energy and determination that would characterize her throughout life. She devoted countless hours to her community and the children she adored, volunteering at local schools and serving as a beloved “Grandmother Reader,” sharing stories, encouragement, and warmth with generations of students.
Family was the center of JoeAnn’s world. She cherished traveling to the mountains with her three sisters, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and lifelong friendship. Alongside her devoted husband, David, she delighted in taking her grandchildren on special adventures to Disney, Dollywood, Maggie Valley, and the Branchville Railroad. These trips became treasured family traditions and some of the grandchildren’s most cherished memories.
JoeAnn was a gifted quilter whose hands created beautiful works of art stitched with patience and love. Her home was often filled with the fellowship of friends from her quilting group, where stories were shared and lasting friendships were formed. She also found great joy working in a ceramic shop, expressing her creativity through the pieces she crafted and the friendships she built along the way.
Above all, JoeAnn will be remembered for her gentle heart, unwavering love for her family, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and faith. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created, the traditions she established, and the love she so freely gave.
JoeAnn is preceded in death by her husband, David P. Delong; and her sisters, Doris K. Hadden, Frances K. Bailey, and Shirley K. Yon.
JoeAnn is survived by her sons, Robert K. “Bobby” Delong and wife, Theresa and David “Kenny” Delong and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, John Delong, Michael Delong, Matthew Delong, and Timothy Delong; 6 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; nieces, Sandra Yon and Gayle Tipton; nephews, Robert Yon and Michael Yon; and a host of additional relatives and friends to cherish her memory.
