John Brady Harrington

John was born March 12, 1941 in Atlanta, GA to the late Jesse and Lucile Harrington. He joined the U.S. Navy at a tender age and served proudly for 21 years. While in the Navy he met and married Mary Lynne Bilton on December 30th, 1967. He retired a chief machinist mate of the Navy and also retired as a mechanic from Dupont and Robert Bosch Company.

John was a hard worker who took care of and loved all of his family. He was especially proud of his “girls” and he was definitely outnumbered, but he loved it. He was starting to even up the numbers by having his first great grandson, Sawyer, who he was very proud of. John loved Christmas and enjoyed decorating the house and yard. People from other neighborhoods would come to see his decoraions and still talk about it today. He loved to fish, camp, shoot pool, bowl and he and Lynne were a part of the Palmetto Winnebago Club for many years. He was a quiet man but people have said “when John talks, everyone listens.” He also has been known as a gentle giant.

In addition to his loving wife Lynne, John is survived by daughters, Sabrina Harrington (David Cornelius) and Cheliene Harrington; granddaughters Brittney Hill (Corey Hill) and Miranda Harrington; great-grandchildren, Alexis Clark, Allison Clark, Bristol Hill, Sawyer Hill and Hazel Hill, all of Summerville, SC; sister Jackie Jackson of Dallas, GA along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers Raymond and Vernal.
