He was a US Army Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving 2 tours in Viet Nam.
He along with his father ran Newman’s Heating and Air for many years.
John is survived by his mother, Christine Newman, a sister, Brenda Garvin, of Charleston, a brother, Terry Newman of Charleston, a daughter, Julie Jaques, of Ridgeville, a son, Ryan Newman, of Summerville, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Garvin, and a son, Shane Newman.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 prior to the service at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.
