

John was born on April 7th, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Manuel and Josephine (Jimenez) Rivera. John was a beloved son, brother, husband and friend to many. As a young boy John loved to play baseball which followed him into adulthood as he was a big Detroit Tigers fan as well as Detroit Lions fan. He also loved to hunt and fish in his free time. John graduated from Saginaw High. John served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne division as a paratrooper. Following the army John worked for General Motors as a skilled trades welder for 25 years before retiring. As an adult, John donated to many charities, giving back to the veteran community. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Naomi, his daughters Sharon & Shelley and his grandchildren.
John is survived by daughter Shelley (Robert) Drysdale, his siblings Phillip Riviera, Maria Cazares, Ralph (Rosa) Rivera, Christine Silva. Grandchildren Robert Ian Drysdale, Ashley Drysdale, Sean Drysdale and many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Manuel and Josephine Rivera, his wife Naomi Rivera, his daughter Sharon, his sisters Mary Acosta and Carmen Rodriguez, brother-in-laws Michael Silva and Albert Acosta and several furbabies.
The family will welcome visitors on Friday August 8th from1 to 2 pm. A Life Well Celebrated Service will be at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens,
