Dusty Rhodes was my best friend on Angaur Palau in 1954-55 on the USCG Loran station. Some of my stories about me and Rhodes are online at  jacksjoint/palau. He was sure a great guy and lots of fun.  AJ

I was stationed with a Joe " Dusty"Rhodes on Angaur, Palaui 1954-1955. USCG Loran station.  He was my room mate and best friend. I don't know if this is the same person. Dusty, you were a kind hearted and generous man.  I know our Lord is shaking his head right now wondering how in the world you got so much done in your life.  You put your heart into everything you did.  I remember the many times you collected gifts for the unfortunate or repaired their broken homes with little or no help.   You were always there for family and friends.  I'm sure Aunt Lottie had your tux and feathers ready for her Grand Knight.  Smooth sailing with calm seas Uncle Dusty.  


Dusty, over the last 48 years, I could write a book.  Joan and I just want to thank you for the memories, the help, and the friendship we've enjoyed over the years.  We hope they have pinochle in heaven and you're sitting at the table when we get there.  Rest in peace.

Dusty, I'm going to miss you very much, you were very important to me and my life, and I enjoyed being with you daily for almost 7yrs as your caregiver and friend. I know you are at peace now that you are in heaven with all of your Family and love ones.  So as we said every night "God bless you, and if I don't see you tomorrow, then I'll see you in Heaven"
