He is the son of of the late Leroy and Cena Mae Forman of Moultrie, Georgia. Born on November 22, 1923, he is their eldest son and second of 8 children.
During JW’s childhood. He helped his family by working on his grandfather’s farm, picking corn or driving a wagon filled with tobacco leaves. He attended and graduated for May Pole High School, where his father was the school principle and teacher.
In 1943, JW enlisted in the Marine Corps and trained at Parris Island, SC. He was a member of the 4th Company who traveled across the Pacific Ocean to be stationed on the atolls of the Marshall Islands. During his service there, his company captured the island of Eniwetok from our enemy, built a new base for troop support, troop training and a supply station that was shared with the Navy. For his dedication of service, and organization, he attained the rank of sergeant.
After the war ended, JW returned home to Moultrie, Georgia where he met and married his beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia Sloan (Jenny) and raised 4 children, Kenny, Sue, Ann & Wayne Jr. (Buster). There he became a carpenter, which led him to move to Charleston, South Carolina to briefly work with the JC Long Company as a property manager and eventually creating JW Foreman and Sons Construction Company. For over 50 years, JW built beautiful custom homes across Charleston and the surrounding areas. He would also donate his skill and time building a new church for Faith Assembly of God in Charleston, as he attended frequently with his wife Jenny. JW was always willing to help his friends and neighbors with small projects and home improvements.
JW loved the outdoors and really enjoyed camping, boating and car racing, however, his greatest pleasure was building with his hands. After retiring, JW enjoyed vacations with his family in the mountains, trips to the casino and long car rides in the countryside.
Surviving are his children, Sue Jernigan (Jimmy (d)), Ann Bugbee (Bruce (d)), his grandchildren, June Jenness, Amy Collins (Scot), Troy Foreman (Kelli), David Cook, Hunter Anderson and Steven Macneir, sisters, Irma Jean Bigham (Dan), Bobb-Faye Brigman (Sam(d)), Jackie Spradley (Eddie (d)) and Carolyn Voyles (Paul).
JW is preceded in death by his wife Jenny, his sons, Kenny Macneir, Wayne, Jr (Buster) Diana), Jimmy Jernigan (Sil), his granddaughter, Jessica Stewart, grandson, Kevin Macneir, his brother France (Pete) and sisters, Mize Tucker and Lucile Kroblen.

A visitation will be held from 3:00pm until 4:00pm on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home located at 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222. A crypt side service will follow immediately at 4:00pm at Carolina Memorial Park.
