Katherine Boyt (Boyet, Boyette) Gay of Charleston­ passed through the Pearly Gates of heaven on 11 August 2017 at 103 years old. Born in Horry Co., SC, to Steve and Cora 28 February 1914. Worked at Manhattan Shirt Factory and Jeanolas Drapery. Her three daughters, Esther Lou Graham of Loris, SC; Doris Lynn Higginbotham of Lake Anna, VA; Rogeania Katherine "Ging" McCay of Fuquay Varina, NC, were blessed to have a mother who made most of their clothes as they were growing up. No sewing project was too big or small. Crafts? She wanted to try any she saw. Go? Car keys rattled, she was at the door with her purse. Church door open? She was there and loved her church family. She was awarded ABWA Woman of the Year 1986. She was a widow at 45 predecesed by her husband, JB G a y . S h e l i v e d i n N o r t h Charleston for many years cutting her own grass until she was 90+. Her last few years she lived in Fuquay Varina, NC. She was the 2nd eldest of 10 children. All have gone before her except one sister, Virginia Stroud of Loris, SC. She had eight grandchildren, dozen plus great­grands, and even greatgreat­grands and beloved nieces and nephews. She was an embodiment of h u m b l e n e s s , s w e e t n e s s , determination, inner strength, and a Christian example always. Funeral at Carolina Memorial Gardens, Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Visitation 10:00am, funeral service at 11:30, followed by graveside service. Reception to follow at First Baptist Church of North Charleston, 4216 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston.
